Delightfully unique, and nostalgic.

Quaint, quirky, good sandwiches, soups, salads and quiche. And the most wonderful little bakery with different cakes and pies by the slice everyday. Wonderful muffins, cookies, tarts, brownies, cinnamon rolls for breakfast and coffees.

We experienced great service and excellent coffee & dessert!

Great food, absolutely scrumptious delicious desserts, wonderful sweet tea, and fabulously sweet staff! We tried the bacon and swiss quiche sweet tea and strawberry cake. All were fantastic!

We love the espresso and cappuccino machine, and the warm tasty treats. This bakery is one of the highlights of our lovely town and is always filled with laughter and interesting people. Staff is friendly and helpful too.

Nice folks. A place to find a good latte in Washington. Would love to see more choices/variety/flavors. I did not have breakfast, but it looked good.

It would be nice for the hostess/host to check on the guest to see if they need a refill or dessert.

Homemade pimento cheese is the best I have ever had! Quiche is fabulous and huge portions!!!! 10 stars

It’s the best coffee shop in town!

The Square Cafe is a great little bakery and coffee house in the heart of historic Washington, Georgia. It embodies the meaning of "local cafe." Fresh hot cinnamon rolls, made from scratch muffins, quiches made with locally sourced meats, coffee that is roasted locally (in Augusta), sandwiches and wraps, too. When the weather is nice (and it's nice here a lot), you can sit outside and enjoy the quaintness of Washington's historic courthouse square - it's Mayberry meets Norman Rockwell. Free wifi. Lively conversation with locals. Friendly staff. Be sure to chat with the owners as they have very interesting stories to tell. This place is what Starbucks and other chains aren't, but wish they could be.

We had a wonderful time and excellent food. Service was friendly and the environment was warm and cheerful! I plan to go back often!

Cute place but way too expensive. $9.00 for a very small chef salad. 32.00 for salad. 2 sands. 3 drinks???.

Very disappointed in the service and the quality of my order. The management did not seem very interested in my order despite having over ten hours to process it. Don’t be mistaken this is NOT Southern Scratch that previously occupied this location!

Just moved here from Conyers Ga ...best Cuban sandwich I have ever eaten...good god I'm sitting here now thinking about it...grilled bun pickle ...yummmmmm like imagine Homer Simpson saying yummmmm that's me when I eat that sandwich anytime I have extra mulah I am eating there. Very friendly staff as well girl behind counter was so nice from New Jersey if I remember and I will have to come try there coffe beans huge coffe lover :) thanks for the great service

Great food with a charming small town vibe & laid back atmosphere. Strongly recommend to stop in if you are in the Augusta or Athens area or passing through town. That Washington Square is a welcome throwback to another time. Looks like a movie set.
